Sinn Fein councillor Sandra Duffy

SINN Féin Councillor Sandra Duffy has welcomed the announcement of an extra £458,725 funding boost to support Derry City and Strabane District Council with pressures brought about by the pandemic.

The party’s leader on the council said: “This money will be a massive boost in helping Derry City & Strabane Council to continue their work in tackling the pandemic and supporting communities and services.

“Derry City and Strabane will receive £458,725 of a £2.4 million funding package to support local councils.

“I want to commend Minister Deirdre Hargey for her commitment to supporting local councils having secured over £85 million to assist them with additional costs and loss of income.

“Our council will have a central role in helping society, communities and local business to rebuild and recover from the challenges over the last year.”
