THE SDLP’s Mark H Durkan has welcomed confirmation by the Western Health and Social Care Trust that it will vaccinate tenants and service users of supported living within their units after he called for this measure to be incorporated into the vaccine roll-out strategy.
Said the Foyle MLA: “I am delighted that the Western Trust is taking this proactive approach, for which I have been calling.
“Vaccinating supported living residents and service users within their accommodation means that some of the most at-risk individuals do not have to travel to clinics.
“It also makes logistical sense for people administering vaccinations to travel to one place to vaccinate a number of people.
“This will be welcome news to residents and users of supported living and their families as we look towards our most clinically vulnerable and elderly members of society being protected against this deadly virus.”
