DERRY City and Strabane District Council’s Everybody Active team are urging families to get active and into the festive spirit this weekend by taking part in a Santa Family Run / Walk.
The event is open to runners and households of all levels on Saturday December 12th and Sunday December 13th and participants can choose a distance from 1k to 10k to complete.
The event costs just £2 for children and £5 for adults and every participant will receive a run pack that includes a Santa t shirt, hat and reflectors.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Brian Tierney, urged families to get involved.
“The Santa Family Fun Walk is a great way for families and individuals to stay active, particularly during a period when athletics and many sporting events can’t be held,” he said.
“Runners and walkers of all abilities can get involved by choosing their own distance and completing it at a time and venue that suits them.
“What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than by donning your specially designed festive t shirt, hat and reflectors and taking to our local parks and greenways to complete your challenge?”
Registration for the Santa Family Fun Walk, which closes on Wednesday December 9th, is available by searching for the event on Eventbrite or using the short link: bit.ly/37kcyLw
