Nixon’s Corner to get community Christmas tree – Logue

SINN Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has welcomed the news that the Nixon’s Corner area is set to get a community Christmas Tree for the first time.

Councillor Logue said: “Back in February of 2019 we did a survey of local residents and one of the issues that came up at that time was the lack of a community Christmas Tree for the Nixon’s Corner area.

“Residents felt rural areas are often forgotten about because they live on the outskirts of the city.

“I took their request to Derry City and Strabane District Council and asked if possible, could something be done for the issue.

“I am pleased to have received confirmation from the Council that a Christmas Tree will be installed this week.

“I would like to thank the Council for their cooperation and hope it brings a bit of light to the area as we head towards Christmas, especially during this pandemic.”
