New winter opening times for council’s Recycle Centres

DERRY City and Strabane District Council today issued details of new winter opening hours across a number of facilities which come into operation this week.

The changes mainly affect outdoor sites and the public are encouraged to check Council’s website for further details before visiting.

Earlier closing times have been introduced at Council owned cemeteries following the change of the clocks at the weekend.

Gates at all Council owned cemeteries will now open at 8am and close at 4.30pm.

Recycling facilities will also see changes with earlier closing times during the darker evenings.

Some restrictions are still in place to facilitate health and safety restrictions around Covid-19 so people are encouraged to check the Council website for the new times which may affect booking slots at relevant sites.

Changes include earlier closing at the following sites:

Strathfoyle – 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, 1pm to 5pm Sunday

Park – 8am to 5pm Monday to Saturday

The 6pm to 8pm slot for Glendermott Road will no longer operate during the Winter months, therefore last bookings will be now 4:10pm Monday to Friday.

(Slots are available from 9.30am-12noon, 1pm – 4.30pm) Saturday: 8am – 6pm, Sunday: 1- 5pm.

Strabane Recycling Centres including Strahan’s Road, Newtownstewart, Donemana and Plumbridge – 10am – 4.45pm Monday – Saturday.
