Essential sewer works for Buncrana Road in Derry

THE SDLP’s Mark H Durkan has advised that temporary road closures will be in place on the Buncrana Road and surrounding areas from next Monday, October 12.

The works will take place between 7 pm and 7 am for the next 10 weeks, to facilitate NI Water in essential sewer investigation work.

Said the Foyle MLA: “NI Water will be carrying out essential investigation and maintenance works of the sewage network along the Buncrana Road, from Monday 12th October for a period of approximately ten weeks.

“This process is critical to determine a future programme of repair and improvement for the area.

“I appreciate that in consideration of the surrounding businesses and residential areas,

“NI Water say it intends to minimise disruption as much as possible.

“Work will be completed during the hours of 7 pm-7 am, temporary lane closures will be in place during these hours but two-way traffic will be maintained where possible.

“From next week, this will affect the McArtney Park/ Collon Terrace and Pennyburn Industrial Estate areas.

“Work will continue the following week on the Buncrana Road at the Pennyburn roundabout, with work progressing on the roads leading away from the city thereafter.

“I would ask that for public patience at this time and that people are mindful of social-distancing etiquette to ensure this work can be completed quickly and safely,” he added.
