Mayor Brian Tierney turns the first sod for the new Galliagh Community Centre

SINN Féin Councillor Aileen Mellon has welcomed the beginning of work on the brand new Galliagh Community Centre.

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Brian Tierney this week turned the first sod for the new centre.

Said Councillor Mellon said: “I’m absolutely delighted that work has started on the new Galliagh Community Centre.

“This is great news for the people of Galliagh that we will now see a new, modern state-of-the-art facility in the heart of the area.

“I would like to acknowledge the support from Minister Carál Ní Chuilín in allocating £735,000 towards delivering the project.

“I want to commend all those who have worked tirelessly over the years to deliver a first class facility for the people of Galliagh and I look forward to seeing it open in the near future.”
