Talk about becoming an organ donor – Mullan

SINN Féin’s Karen Mullan has encouraged individuals and families in Derry to talk about becoming an organ donor.

Speaking during Organ Donation Week, the Foyle MLA said: “It’s important for families to discuss registering to become an organ donor.

“It can be a difficult and uncomfortable conversation to have with loved ones but it’s vital that people share their wishes with their families.

“I am encouraging people to join in with this year’s Donate 4 Dáithí Campaign Coffee Station, who are asking families to have a virtual coffee event and have the discussion about your wishes on the event of your death.

“In the event of a death, families give the final consent for organ donation so they need to know the wishes of their loved ones.

“Sinn Féin have long campaigned for improved services around organ donation, namely promoting greater awareness and more training for healthcare professionals.

“These conversations are central to promoting and ultimately increasing organ donation.

“I am encouraging everyone to go online and register at www.organdonationni.info
