Coronavirus: No new COVID-19 related deaths in North, two new cases

THE Department of Health has recorded no new Covid-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours in the North of Ireland.

It means the number of deaths from the virus remains at 556.

The department’s daily figures are mostly comprised of hospital deaths, where a patient had previously tested positive for the virus.

The latest figures on the department’s dashboard show the total number of confirmed positive cases of the virus now stands at 5,859, an increase of two from yesterday.

The two new cases have been recorded in Causeway Coast and Glens and Mid Ulster council areas.

The biggest increase in cases over the past seven days has occurred in Causeway Coast and Glens council area (22) with the majority in Limavady after people attended a karaoke party in a house.

There have been 29 deaths in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area from Coronavirus with 226 positive cases of the deadly virus.

In the past seven days there has been an increase of 14 cases of COVID-19 within its council boundary.

Two patients with Covid-19 are currently being treated in intensive care in hospitals here.
