Harkin: Stopping genocide is not crime. We are all Palestine Action

People Before Profit Cllr Shaun Harkin has said his party condemns plans by the British Home Office to ban Palestine Action from next week.

Said Cllr Harkin: “People Before Profit condemn and oppose the British government’s proposal to ban Palestine Action.

“This latest act of hypocrisy comes as a new Harvard University linked study by Israeli professor Yaakov Garb reports almost 400,000 Palestinians, mostly children, have been ‘disappeared’ in Gaza by the Israeli military.

“Taking action to oppose and stop this is not terrorism, it is a duty for all decent minded people.

“Genocide is a crime against humanity and the British government is complicit with Israel’s barbarism against Palestinians. That is the real terrorism.

“At the June full Council meeting we will be urging Derry City and Strabane District Council to call on British Home Secretary Yvette Cooper to drop the ridiculous and dangerous proposal to designate Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation.

“We will defend the right to protest genocide and won’t be deterred from taking action to oppose Starmer’s warmongering.

“We also encourage support for the Derry IPSC ‘We are all Palestine Action’ rally at Free Derry Corner 6.30pm on Thursday.”
