SDLP Foyle MLA and Economy spokesperson Sinead McLaughlin

SDLP Economy Spokesperson Sinead McLaughlin has welcomed the support of the Finance Minister for her proposal that orders for the supply of desperately needed PPE be given to local North of Ireland firms where possible.

Said the Foyle MLA: “Firms in Derry have urged the Northern Ireland Executive to buy PPE locally where possible.

“I am delighted that the Minister of Finance has indicated his endorsement of this.

“In these difficult times it is important that we support our Northern Ireland businesses, in the same way that they helped us over recent months.

“Members of the Derry Chamber of Commerce met with me virtually in recent days, asking for PPE orders to be awarded where possible.

“I am pleased to have helped them by putting forward their request, which I hope will lead to valuable orders being places with Northern Ireland firms.”
