Lyra McKee murder probe: Man to face Derry court charged with possessing firearm

Murdered journalist Lyra McKee shot dead in Derry in April last year by the New IRA

A 27-year-old man has been charged as part of the investigation into the murder of journalist Lyra McKee in Derry last year.

The man was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances.

He is due to appear via videolink at Derry Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday, July 16.

Ms McKee was shot in Derry’s Creggan estate on Thursday, April 18, 2019.

The 29-year-old was observing rioting when she was shot.

One man, Paul McIntyre, 52, from Kinnego Park in Derry, has been charged with Ms McKee’s murder.

He denies the charge.

NcIntyre is also on bail charged with rioting on the night of Ms McKee’s murder.
