Two to face court over vehicle hijack bid in Derry

Two males to face Derry Magistrates’ Court over vehicle hijack bi

POLICE in Derry have charged two men with attempted hijacking.

A 21 year old man was charged with a number of offences including criminal damage, assault on police and possession of a controlled drug.

An 18 year old male has been charged with attempted hijacking.

Both men are due to appear before Derry Magistrates’ Court this morning, Wednesday, July 1.

As is usual procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The charges relate to incidents in the Brookdale Park area of Derry during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Up to nine vehicles were damaged in what a senior police officer described as “wanton vandalism”.
