Coronavirus: No further deaths in North from COVID-19

THE Department of Health has reported in its daily update that there has been no new Coronavirus-related death in the North of Ireland.

The figures, which mostly record fatalities in a hospital setting, show there have been a total of 543 deaths here during the pandemic.

The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 now stands at 4,863 according to the department’s figures – an increase of one from the previous day.

There have been been 27 deaths from Coronavirus in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area since the outbreak of the pandemic in March.

And there have been over 170 confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the council boundary area.

Last Friday, Nisra reported that there had been 757 deaths from Coronavirus in the North of Ireland in hospitals, care homes, hospices and private residences up to Friday, June 5.

More than half of all deaths had happened in residential care homes.
