SDLP Social Justice Spokesperson Mark H Durkan has welcomed Derry City and Strabane District Council’s recommended approval for the long-awaited play park in the Coshquin area of the city.
Said the Foyle MLA: “I am pleased that a play-park for Coshquin has been recommended for approval and is now one step further to fruition.
“This long-overdue provision, which is twenty-years in the making, will see this neglected area finally receive a play-park to accommodate the growing numbers of young families.
“However, it must be acknowledged that with the financial implications of Covid on our local councils not fully realised, this will no doubt present challenges in progressing this provision and indeed other proposed works.
“This park will provide a huge boost for the local community and regardless of these difficulties, it is important that it is delivered as soon as reasonably possible.”
