SINN Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed an extensive clean-up of Marianus Glen adjacent to Ballymagroarty.

He said: “I was contacted a few weeks ago by residents who were angry that a substantial amount of rubbish had been dumped in the Marianus Glen area.

“I asked the Councils waste enforcement team to visit Marianus Glen and to examine the fly tipping for evidence of the those involved.

“A major clean up of the area has now taken place and residents have contacted me to ask me to thank the Council for this clean particularly with the pressures due to COVID19.

“I am now working on a similar initiative to get the fields behind John Field Place cleaned up.

“Its important if anyone knows of illegal dumping to contact the council’s fly tipping reporting website www.derrystrabane.com/flytipping

“Also a couple of handy numbers for residents are the Excess household waste number on 02871 376 590 and bulky lift request number for white goods which has resumed can be arranged on 02871 374 107.”
