Peadar O’Donnell’s pub in Waterloo Street now shut until further notice over Coronavirus spread[

A CHAIN of premises in Derry have now shut their doors to the public to reduce the risk of the spread of the Coronavirus.

In a statement, Peadar O’Donnell’s said: “Due to the current health crisis and the ongoing valiant efforts of health staff to combat the spread of the Corona virus we have decided that Peadars, The Gweedore and 57 will close at 12 midnight Sunday 15th March until further notice.

“This decision was not taken lightly as this is our busiest time of the year and is a big contributor to our overall viability as a going concern.

“However, the health of the general population is paramount.

“We do not wish to put our staff, musicians or patrons and their relative’s health at risk at this time of global emergency.”

In the Republic, all premises in the hospitality industry have been forced closed to reduce the risk of the spread of the Coronavirus.

Derry City and Strabane District Council has cancelled St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Derry city and Strabane for this Tuesday, March 17, because of the risk of Coronavirus spread among such large crowds.
