DERRY City and Strabane District Council has encouraged those attending the Strabane St Patrick’s Day celebrations to arrive and park in the town centre before 1.30 pm.

Road closures will be in place from that time along the revised parade route next Tuesday which will start from Holy Cross College and move down Melmount Road, Bridge Street, Market Street, Abercorn Square, Railway Road and into Dock Street. The roads will re-open following the parade’s conclusion.

Businesses and residents on that route, or those with properties leading on to it, are advised that they will also be affected by the road closures.

Those wishing to attend the parade and celebrations are strongly encouraged to ensure that have arrived and parked in one of the town centre’s car parks early to avoid delays.

As well as the parade, the Festival Village in Butcher Street Carpark is open from 2 pm – 5 pm and will feature live music by Mad Notions and characters from Ancient Irish Myth and Legend alongside storytelling, markets and activities.

From 3 pm to 4.30 pm, the Alley Theatre will host some of the best of Irish traditional music by Comhaltas an Tsratha Báin, hearty Irish Stew and children’s activities.
