Cianain Campbell, from Model Primary School, enjoys the Discover Science Event for Juniors at North West Regional College.

NORTH West Regional College says it had a fabulous day with young scientists of the future at a recent science day.

Pupils from from Model P.S., St John’s P.S., Gaelscoil Eadain Mhoir, Sion Mills PS and St John’s Dernaflaw, learned g how to extract DNA from Strawberries, taking part in a Colour creation experiment using acids and alkaline.

And there was also the great egg drop challenge – building a suitable structure to protect an egg from smashing or cracking under impact.

Ava Rose McBride and Che Duffy, primary six pupils at Gaelscoil Eadain Mhoir, learn about DNA as they got the opportunity to be microbiologists for the day as part of a special event at North West Regional College, part of NI Science Festival.
