Wedding Open Day to be held at Guildhall this weekend

COUPLES planning their special day can see how the Guildhall can accommodate their needs at the venue’s Wedding Open Day this Sunday February 16th from 2pm – 5pm.

Local couples can now invite friends and family to enjoy the history, warmth, and luxurious surroundings of the 19th Century building which has dominated the city centre since 1890, located within footsteps of the 17th Century City Walls.

With a sweeping staircase and the grandeur of the stunning Main Hall, the building can be used to create any type of special day, from a unique fairy tale wedding to a low key celebration for both marriages and civil partnership ceremonies.

Guildhall Operations Manager Alison Morris invited local couples to sample the venue’s offering at Sunday’s event.
“Whether you are celebrating a small, intimate union or a large gathering, the Guildhall provides the perfect backdrop for your special celebration,” she said.

“We offer couples the chance to celebrate their special day right in the heart of the city centre, in the magnificent surrounds of an iconic building steeped in local history.

“Sunday is an opportunity for you to meet our friendly team, take a guided tour of the venue and enjoy delicious refreshments while you experience everything it has to offer.”

Included in the Open Day will be examples of the various wedding set ups and decoration styles, a chance to meet catering providers and the registrar and some amazing prize giveaways.

The Guildhall underwent a major multi-million pound restoration in 2013, which transformed the Grade A listed building, enhancing the many beautiful architectural features that make this civic and social hub so special.

The Whittaker Suite is perfect for a more intimate ceremony and can hold up to 50 guests while the Main Hall can accommodate up to 400.

The Guildhall Wedding Open Day is free to attend – simply register by emailing [email protected].
