SDL:P councillor Shauna Cusack

SDLP Councillor Shauna Cusack says she is delighted at the recognition and celebration of the factory girls through events at the Tower Museum next weekend.

The Foyleside councillor has been championing for the Factory Girls to be properly recognised for the contribution they made to Derry City.

As part of that recognition, Cllr Cusack, with the support of Mayor Michaela Boyle, hosted a Christmas dinner in the Guildhall last month in honour of the Factory Girls.

Said Cllr Cusack: “I’m delighted to see the factory girls once again celebrated through a programme of storytelling, music and memory sharing at the ‘Herstory 2020’ programme developed by council officers.

“I would encourage everyone interested in these events to be aware of the times and details so no one can miss out on another great opportunity to meet old friends and reminisce.

“While many incredible women will be recognised and platforms over the weekend of the 31st January at the museums, this is another particularly welcome recognition of our factory girls, especially following the huge success of our pre-Christmas reunion.”
