The scene of fire on Strand Road at Evny nightclub last Thursday. Fire now treated as arson, say police

A PART of Strand Road is to remain closed for almost two weeks after a recent fire.

An arson investigation is underway by PSNI detectives in Derry after the deliberate blaze gutted Envy nightclub last week.

Up to 50 firefighters were involved in tackling the blaze on Thursday, January 9.

PSNI Foyle say: “Strand Road after Queens Quay Roundabout will continue to be closed until Tuesday, January 28, 2020 due to the fire at Envy.

“Traffic is therefore heavier on the Quay and on Northland Road.

“The Police Station is still open as usual.”
