Police warn public over ‘suspicious’ callers at Derry homes looking for money

POLICE in Derry are warning the public to be on their guard against suspicious house callers.

It follows an incident on Wednesday involving a male calling at the home of a lady.

PSNI Foyle say: “Yesterday, a lady in the area of Cornshell Fields reported a male calling at her address asking for money.

“The lady did not open the door to and did not give the male any money, at which point he left the area.

“This lady did the correct thing by not opening the door to a stranger.

“Please be alert for this kind of behaviour and look out for your neighbours, especially if they are elderly or vulnerable.

“If you notice any suspicious people or vehicles in your area, please contact us on 101 or 999 in an emergency.”
