OUR Future, Our Choice, a grassroots, youth-led campaign for a people’s vote on a final Brexit deal has endorsed SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood for the Foyle Westminster seat and Claire Hanna for the South Belfast seat.

Speaking after the announcement from Northern Ireland’s largest Pro-Remain Campaign Group, Colum Eastwood said:

“I am delighted and humbled to accept the endorsement of Our Future, Our Choice. Over the last couple of years, their campaigning and advocacy for young people in the North has been authentic, relentless and hopeful.

“In choosing to endorse a broad slate of candidates from across the political spectrum, they have recognised that this is an extraordinary election and it demands an extraordinary response.

“Knocking doors in Derry and across the North, it’s very clear that this sentiment – the desire for cooperation to stop Brexit and stop Boris Johnson – is shared by people in all of our communities.

“People want us to work together for the greater good.

“I thank Our Future, Our Choice for their endorsement today and I look forward to campaigning with their passionate activists in Foyle in the coming weeks.”

SDLP South Belfast Westminster candidate, Claire Hanna added: “This is a powerful endorsement from powerful young voices who refuse to be silences.

“It has been a privilege to work with Our Future, Our Choice NI since their formation and I am excited to have their activists join our campaign in South Belfast.

“Their tireless work has made the case for a People’s Vote in Northern Ireland.

“I am delighted to work closely with them over the coming weeks and if I am elected as the MP for South Belfast, I will continue to fight for a People’s Vote as a way out of the Brexit chaos.”
