HOT STUFF…Sam McBride with his book ‘Burned’ on the cash-for-ash scandal

THE author of the book detailing the inside story on the RHI ‘cash-for-ash’ scandal is coming to Derry this weekend to sign copies of his highly acclaimed work.

Burned’, the book chronicling the political intrigue behind the North of Ireland’s largest ever political scandal, has been penned by Sam McBride, Political Editor at the News Letter newspaper.

The book had a print rerun ordered even before it went on general release and another ordered just 24 hours after it hit the shelves.

‘Burned’ is the result of three years work by Mr McBride which uncovers layer after layer of the flawed Renewalble Heating Initiative (RHI).

The political and financial scandal exposed not just some of the North of Ireland’s most powerful figures but provides a stark look at the problems of governance at the heart of the political system.

Before the book hit the shelves, the author and the publisher, Merrion Press, received a letter from a solicitor acting for five senior DUP figures warning them of potential legal action if the book contained “defamatory” material.

‘Burned’ is now on sale at £15.99.

Mr McBride will be signing copies of his book at the Eason’s store in Foyleside Shopping Centre this Saturday, November 2, at 3 pm.
