Another business on board for In Strabane gift card

THE success of the In Strabane gift card is continuing to grow, with an announcement that another business has joined the scheme.

Gray’s Tea Room on Main Street is the latest to get onboard with the Mastercard-based gift card, which can be used as payment for purchases across a network of businesses in Strabane.

Gray’s Tea Room serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee and drinks, and offers takeaway, delivery, and catering services, as well as welcoming anyone into the café for a quick cuppa’, or to host groups for a special occasion.

The gift card is part of the Strabane Business Improvement District (BID) plan, where users can purchase cards ranging in value from £5 to £200, and it has proved hugely successful so far – with the numbers buying cards rising every week.

It works in the same way as department store or shopping centre gift cards, but it is spread across a much wider area, giving you plenty of choices.

Derry City and Strabane District Council Business Officer, Sinead Lynch, explained why the gift card is so useful.

“We are delighted to welcome Gray’s Tea Room, and with the sales of gift cards going up and up, it only shows how popular and valuable an asset it is.

“It’s a fantastic way for people to support their local businesses and to grow the Strabane economy further.

“More businesses have signed up than ever before, and that makes the In Strabane gift card the perfect present for everyone, especially those in your life who are traditionally difficult to buy for!

“It also works as an employee incentive, with special discounts available for anyone who would like to purchase in bulk.

“Furthermore, we are hugely grateful to have the support of Strabane’s diaspora, who have gotten behind the card – purchasing it online from Boston and beyond for family and friends who live at home in Strabane and the surrounding Donegal and Derry areas.”
