Appeal after stones thrown at bus on flyover – Logue

Sinn Fein councillor Patricia Logue

SINN Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has expressed concern after reports that young people have been stoning buses on the Lecky Road Flyover.

The latest incident IN THE Bogside happened on Wednesday afternoon.

Councillor Logue said: “I was contacted by a constituent who was traveling along the Lecky Road when they witnessed two children running out from the land between Durrow Park and Meenan Square and throwing stones at a bus travelling up the Flyover.

“They have told me those involved were very young around primary school age.

“This is a very busy area of the city with a lot of traffic on the Flyover each day and we are very lucky we didn’t see a serious accident in this case.

“The Bogside sees a lot of buses with tourists and the last thing we want to see is a tourist being injured or a bus damaged and people being put off from visiting the area.
