Police at the scene in St Eugene’s Cathedral today after a threatening letter was found

POLICE in Derry are investigating after a letter was found containing threats to a person.

It was found in the grounds of St Eugene’s Cathedral this afternoon.

An area in the grounds was cordoned off but police say the scene has now been cleared and police have appealed for anyone information about the letter to come forward.

A PSNI Foyle spokesperson said this evening: “Police were dealing with an incident at St Eugene’s Cathedral in the city this afternoon involving a letter containing threats to a third party.

“A scene was established and has now been collapsed. Investigative enquiries are ongoing.

“If you noticed any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area around 1.15 pm today please call 101 quoting reference 931.”
