STRABANE is looking forward to a Halloween extravaganza this year as the ‘terrorific’ 2019 events programme was unveiled this week.
There will be plenty of fun for all little ghouls and boys with a packed programme of family activities planned at a range of venues across Strabane town and the wider area.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District, Councillor Michaela Boyle, said this year’s programme featured something for all ages to enjoy.
“I’m delighted to see some great additions to the Halloween programme this year, including the Ring of Terror at Melvin Sports Complex Running Track, and to see that the event has captured the imagination of lots of local businesses and community organisations.
“The programme is a real mix of family fun and animation, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone out enjoying the celebrations. I’m particularly looking forward to seeing the new additions to the hay trail after last’s year’s brilliant display.”
This year the Hay Sculpture Trail will feature some shocking new surprises out and about at locations throughout the District.
And when you’re on your journey why not add to the traditional Halloween experience and pick your own pumpkin at Fulton’s Pumpkin Patch – with a selection of colours to choose from.
Castlederg will once again host its traditional Apple Fair on October 25th with plenty of devilish Halloween delights on offer, followed by the annual Hoolie on the Hill and a ‘fangtastic’ fireworks display.
The Alley Theatre will be transformed into a haunted Halloween hub once again this year with plenty of activities taking place.
This includes Little Make Believe The Show, an original performance by Strabane Arts Academy, the Monster Movie, a Trick’n’Treat Trail, Halloween market, story telling – and you can even create your own gruesome concoctions at the slime workshop.
Or why not drop in to the Strabane Library for some spooky story telling, and some wicked arts workshops.
On Halloween night Melvin Sports Complex Running Track will be overrun with ghosts, ghouls and scarecrows all set for the Ring of Terror if you dare to join them.
There will be plenty of other fiendish fun with face painting, animation, live music and fire show.
The evening will finish up with a spooktacular fireworks extravaganza at the running track.
Festival and Events Manager with Derry City and Strabane District Council, Jacqueline Whoriskey, said:
“We are delighted to unveil this year’s Halloween programme for Strabane with a full week of activity planned.
“We want people to really get behind the event, and there is plenty of time now to design the perfect Halloween costume and really get into the spirit.

The programme is organised and funded by Derry City and Strabane District Council.
