THE PSNI in Derry have praised the quick thinking members of the public who alerted them to a burglary suspect in the city today.

PSNI Foyle say: “You thought you were stealthy when you climbed into someone else’s property. You thought nobody was watching.

“Maybe you hoped our response would be slow and you’d gotten away with it?

“Wrong on all counts.

“Thank you to the members of the public who observed a male acting suspiciously, called us immediately and then assisted our crews in apprehending him within minutes.

“One arrest for burglary and possession of drugs! On his way to custody to explain his actions.

“Another thank you to the drivers out there who were quick to act when they heard the blues and twos coming!

“LPT5 and City Centre NPT caught the culprit.. but the callers ensured we could.

“Out on beat to provide reassurance to the community!”
