The late great erry and Anderson and Sean Coyle now axed from Radio Foyle

SINN Fein’s Elisha McCallion has called on BBC bosses to review its decision to pull the plug on the Sean Coyle Radio Ulster/Radio Foyle programme.

Last Friday, the 72-year-old announced on his 10.30 am to midday show that it was his last broadcast for the Beeb after the bosses told him his show was to be dropped.

An online petition was launched and over 5,000 people have signed it calling for the broadcaster to be reinstated immediately.

Said the Foyle MP: “Sean Coyle was a big voice on the air waves for over 30 years.

“The decision to remove his show will have come as a great shock to many, many people.

“I would urge the BBC to immediately review this decision.”

Sean took over the show following the death of Gerry Anderson on August 21, 2014 after a battle with bowel cancer.

Joel Lindsay was in Sean’s chair today and will remain so until a new presenter is announced in late September or early October.

The front runner is Stephen Clements who was poached from Q Radio.

But many of Sean Coyle’s fans have vowed never to listen to Radio Foyle again after his untimely sacking.
