AS part of the continuing Walls 400 exhibition programme an exciting lunchtime lecture exploring ‘Historical Archaeology’ & ‘World’s in Motion’ will take place on Thursday 15 August at 12:30pm in the Whittaker Suite, Guildhall.

Drawing from a range of archaeological projects, the lecture by Audrey Homing from Queens University will place early 17th century Derry in its broader Atlantic context and explore its global connections.

Archaeological evidence from the Londonderry Plantation will be discussed alongside new findings from Roanoke, Jamestown and Plymouth in North America in a reconsideration of the character of culture entanglements in early modern Ireland and the colonial societies of the Chesapeake, Virginia.

The ‘Historical Archaeology’ & ‘World’s in Motion’ lunchtime lecture is free with refreshments provided.

To book a place contact the Tower Museum on 02871 372411 or email [email protected]
