Derry guitarist Johnny McDaid recovering well after operation

SNOW Patrol has announced that guitarist and piano player Johnny McDaid is recovering well after surgery.

The band revealed announced earlier this week that they had been forced to cancel a series of concerts after McDaid suffered “a serious problem with his neck”.

It was the latest injury problem to plague the band after guitarist Nathan Connnolly sustained a hand injury.

Derry man McDaid underwent surgery on his neck earlier this week and Snow Patrol announced on their Facebook page that it had “went well”.

“We’re so glad he’s through it and recovering.

“He thanks you all for your lovely messages. Johnny we love you. Rest up brother,” a post from McDaid’s bandmates read.

McDaid will now take time to recover with his fiancee, Friends star Courtney Cox.

Snow Patrol have cancelled all forthcoming shows billed to play in Europe this summer up to Latitude on July 20th to give McDaid and Connolly time to recover.

The band are hoping to be back on the road for an acoustic tour of Asia, Australia and New Zealand in August.

“We have hardly ever cancelled shows in 25 years together and we don’t do it lightly.

“We hope you all understand.

“We are sorry to miss the shows but health is the most important thing.

“All our love and healing to our brothers Johnny and Nathan,” the band said in a statement earlier this week.
