Strategic Growth Partnership for Derry City and Strabane District Council will meet in the Guildhall next week

Guildhall next week to discuss progress on a range of strategic projects for the area.

The partnership is made up of representatives from local business, community and voluntary organisations and statutory agencies, as well as Derry City and Strabane District Council. It meets regularly to discuss ongoing work to achieve the outcomes identified within the Strategic Growth Plan for Derry and Strabane.

The meeting will take place in the Main Chamber of the Guildhall on Thursday June 27th at 10.30am and is open to the public, all are welcome to attend.

At the meeting partners will hear the latest report from Senior Economist at Ulster University’s Economic Policy Centre, Dr Eoin Magennis, who will report on the rate of economic growth in Derry and Strabane since the publication of the Strategic Growth Plan.

Dr Magennis will look at a series of economic indicators measuring progress to date towards the milestones identified within the strategy.

Partners will also receive an update on the City Deal and ongoing work on the priority strategic projects that are being considered for progression to the next stage in the process.

The publication of the eight local plans for individual community areas is on course for early autumn and at the meeting partners will hear a report on progress to date.

Speaking ahead of the meeting Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District, Councillor Michaela Boyle said: “The Strategic Growth Partnership meetings provide an opportunity for the public and our statutory partners to re-engage with the community planning process, and a forum to discuss important issues regarding the growth, wellbeing and development of the City and District.

“This is very much a collaborative process and I look forward to the opportunity to link in with our partners to review the work to date and look ahead to the key milestones that lie ahead in the delivery of the Strategic Growth Plan.”
