POLICE have uncovered a quantity of class A and B drugs worth £5,500 during a proactive search in Co Derry.

Suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of almost £1,000 and herbal cannabis worth around £4,500 were seized during a operation at a property on Boveedy Road on Monday.

Sgt Gareth McCrystal said: “A 24 year old man was arrested in Kilrea on suspicion of possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply and has since been released to return for further questioning at a later date.

“The seized drugs will now be sent for forensic testing.

“I would encourage anyone with information about the sale and supply of illegal drugs to get in touch with police.

“Community intelligence is key in enabling us to gather an accurate picture of what is happening in our local communities and to focus our resources on the areas and issues people are concerned about.

“Local police can be contacted on 101 or online via the online reporting form on the PSNI website.”
