Parents Patrick and Annette McElwee, family and friends hand over huge £11,000 cheque to Altnagelvin Hospital’s ICU staff

THE family of a young boy has raised over £11,000 for the intensive care unit (ICU) at Altnagelvin Hospital.

The huge sum of money was raised by the Stephen McElwee Fundation in his memory.

The money will now be used to buy ten bespoke bed-space nursing workstation in the ICU so staff can carry on their tremendous work.

The Western Trust said: “Pur Intensive Care Unit at Altnagelvin Hospital received a donation of £11,027 from the McElwee family, in memory of their son Stephen.

“Stephen was cared for in the Unit and his family raised the donation which staff will use to finance the purchase of ten bespoke bed-space nursing workstations.

“The workstations will enhance the way the bed-side nursing staff work and will be a fantastic addition to the Unit.

“Intensive Care Unit staff gratefully accepted the incredibly generous and thoughtful donation from Stephen’s parents, Patrick and Annette, along with other members of his family.”

Well done to the McElwee family on such a generous donation.
