Gym at Templemore Sports Complex to close for refurbishment

REGULAR users of the gym in Templemore Sports Complex should note that there will be a temporary closure of the facility later this month over the Easter break to accommodate the installation of new gym equipment.

The gym will be closed for approximately four days from Tuesday April, 23, until Friday, April 26 to upgrade the equipment and improve facilities for members, as well as allowing time for staff training in using the new machinery.

A spokesperson for Derry City and Strabane District Council said that subject to the successful completion of the work the gym area would reopen on Saturday April 27th.

“At a recent meeting of Council’s Health and Community Committee it was agreed that the gym area should be closed at the least disruptive time for members, and that lies over the Easter break,” the spokesperson explained.

“The temporary closure will facilitate the removal of the existing equipment and allow for the upgrade work to proceed quickly with limited impact on members.

“Current members at Templemore will be offered the alternative of attending Foyle Arena or Brooke Park gym facilities, and an enhanced class programme will be offered during the closure to minimize any disruption.”

The new equipment represents an reinvestment of £189,807.24 in the gym area.

For more information on the new class programme and alternative facilities contact 02871 289200.
