DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a report of an assault in Co Derry which has left a man critically injured in hospital.

The attack is said to have happened in the Glenbeg Walk area of Limavady.

Detective Inspector Blemmings said: “At around 6:30 pm on Wednesday 20th March, it was reported that a man in his 20s received a serious head injury following an assault at a house in the area.

“He was taken to hospital on Thursday 21st March for his injuries and his condition is described as critical.

“A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody at this time.

“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the assault to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 901 21/3/19.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
