Durkan Calls for Action on Duncreggan Drainage

SDLP Foyleside Candidate, Mary Durkan, has called on DFI to address drainage issues on Duncreggan Road.

“This footpath at the bottom of Duncreggan Road leading on to Pennyburn Pass, has been rendered impassable due to flooding,” said Ms Durkan.

“This is causing inconvenience and danger for many pedestrians who use this path – particularly older residents of the area.

“The SDLP has been in contact with DFI to have this issue addressed and I am hopeful of a speedy solution.

“Sadly, the situation here appears to be the result of blocked drains – something that is becoming a more frequent problem right across the City and District.

“It is evident that the Department are struggling to keep on top of simple, structural maintenance issues and that there appears to be a resource issue.

“This has been exacerbated by the absence of an Assembly here to ensure that budgets are adequate to address the many problems that road-users are experiencing,” she added.
