SDLP Councillor Brian Tierney has welcomed confirmation that the Department of Infrastructure are to hold another Public Information Day on the proposed A2 Buncrana Road dualling scheme.

Councillor Tierney said: “At a Public Meeting convened by the SDLP on May 8, 2018, residents were able to air their concerns to engineers with regards to the proposed dualling of Buncrana Road and some of its impacts on the local community.

“Officials from the Department and ARUP Consultants listened to concerns and undertook to return with revised drawings aimed at addressing some of the issues raised.

“We have continued to lobby with the Department for Infrastructure and are pleased that a date for another Public Information Day has been set for Tuesday, March 26, in Da Vinci’s Hotel.

“We are hopeful that residents’ concerns and suggestions will be reflected in the new plans.

“Everyone knows the importance of any development at the A2 Buncrana Road but any plans must meet the residents’ concerns”.

“The SDLP look forward to this event which we hope will be well attended by residents along Buncrana Road where the Department will hopefully have concerns from the previous public information day addressed,” he added.
