SDLP Councillor Shauna Cusack running again in Foyleside constituency

SDLP Councillor Shauna Cusack has been reselected to run for the Party in the local Council elections on the 2nd May.

Said Cllr Cusack: “Anyone who thinks the position of Councillor is a glamorous one or an easy job is watching the wrong people.

“I believe this role is about rolling your sleeves up, getting involved and getting tangible results with issues large and small.

“I’m privileged in this position and I want to continue to deliver, therefore I’m asking the public for another mandate to work for my community.

“Having worked in Mark H Durkan’s constituency office for several years I have first hand experience dealing with numerous concerns but mostly the two biggest issues facing people here, lack of Housing and Welfare Cuts.

“I understand the frustrations and anger with the permanent pause in our political system and I have been very vocal in calling for accountability and action from those who continue to let our people down.

“My passion is this City and making it the best it can be for everyone who lives here.

“I believe my constituents and their families deserve to live in safe, clean communities and I will continue to work hard on the streets and within the Council chamber to deliver for them.

“If we want investment brought to this City then we need to invest in ourselves and that starts on the ground in our neighbourhoods.

I am delighted to be part of a strong, motivated SDLP team and thankful for the support I’ve had from so many thus far.

“I want more than anything for our place to thrive and prosper, for young people to have opportunities enabling them to remain here and that peace and progress prevails above everything else,” she added.
