HAVE-A-GO heroes helped police arrest an alleged thief in Derry after chasing him into a city-centre bingo hall where they locked him in a toilet.
The suspect was pursued by a number of people after allegedly stealing items from a nearby commercial premise around 10 pm on Monday night, February 18.
He tried to make good his escape but was chased into Star Bingo at Bank Place in the city centre.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “A 24-year-old man has been charged with theft and assault on police.
“He is due to appear at Derry Magistrates Court this morning, Wednesday, February 20.
“As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
“The charges are in relation to a report of theft at the Bank Place area of the city on Monday night, February 18.”
