Storm Erik: Motorists warned of travel disruptions over fallen debris and flooded roads

MOTORISTS have been warned that debris and flooding could cause travel disruptions across the North West after Storm Erik raged on Friday night.

In Derry, there are stretches of flooding on the Foyle Road between Craigavon Bridge and Letterkenny Road.

Letterkenny Road close to Nixon’s corner is partially blocked due to fallen tree, other agencies have been tasked.

Police are advising motorists to approach Burntollet Bridge with care as a tree is down.

They are also warning that Victoria Road near the church at Bready is heavily flooded with lorries struggling to get through.

DOE have been informed.

Traffic Watch NI said that 148 high priority incidents were received over the past 24 hours across the North of Ireland

The Met Office’s wind warning, which was in place until 3 pm today, Saturday, February 9, has now been cancelled.
