THE Tower Museum has organised a four week ‘Tiny Tots’ programme for children aged 0-5 years, which will begin this Saturday 2nd February 2019.
The selection of specially tailored events and activities for young children will include ‘Making a Telephone, Stars & Rainbow Waterfall’, ‘Baby Yoga’, ‘Constructing a Zoo’ and ‘Jo Jingles’ music classes.
Betty Doherty, Assistant Education and Access Officer at the Tower Museum said it will be an exciting and educating programme of activities for young children and their parents/carers.
Speaking about what’s on offer, she added: “Museums can be an enjoyable and fun learning space, especially for the younger visitor.
These activities will keep young children entertained while providing educational value and will provide parents and carers with an opportunity to enjoy the museum.
“All the programmes on offer are designed to encourage early years learning and development, but most of all its fun!
“I’m therefore delighted the ‘Tiny Tots at the Tower’ will be jumping back into action on 2nd February by stepping into the laboratory and ‘Making a Telephone, Stars & Rainbow Waterfall’ with simple stem activities for 3-5 year olds.
“This is one of two workshops with another ‘Constructing a Zoo’ taking place on 16th February. If your child is a budding scientist or just likes to have fun, why not book a place.
“We’ll also be having something for the ‘Tinnier Tots’ – aged 0-2 years – on the 9th February with ‘Baby Yoga’, and on 23 February we will have ‘Jo Jingles’ – both from 12 noon to 1pm.
“Again, it’s advisable to book in order to avoid disappointment as places fill up fast”.
The first stem workshop on 2nd February will allow young children to use their imagination in a fun environment by making a telephone with disposable cups and string.
They will also have the opportunity to make expanding stars out of tooth picks and water, or rainbow waterfalls with paper cups, toilet rolls and coloured water.
‘Baby Yoga’ is an excellent programme for new mums.
There are many benefits for both mums and babies at this class including a great bonding experience with your baby, a gentle exercise for both mum and baby, which is great for emotional well-being.
It can also aid digestion for babies, help babies sleep better, keeps them happy by learning techniques for repetitive, soothing motions and it establishes long-term exercise habits for babies.
This is also a great way for new parents to meet other new parents in a safe, welcoming environment.
In the second stem workshop on 16th February ‘Constructing a Zoo’ children will be given flash cards with instructions of homes to build, parks etc. using their imagination and the materials provided.
‘Jo Jingles’ will offer an interactive music, singing and movement class for preschool children which will be both educational and fun.
All workshops and activities are from 12 noon to 1pm and cost £3.00 per child.
