Police halt investigation into city centre stabbing incident

THE PSNI are not looking for anyone else in connection with the stabbing incident that occurred in the city centre on Saturday evening.

The man was believed to have been stabbed on Foyle Street.

It is understood that a knife had been seen in the man’s abdomen shortly before 6:30pm, before he collapsed in the popular street.

Members of the public came to the man’s aid before paramedics transferred him to Altnagelvin Hospital – his injuries are not ‘life-threatening’ according to the PSNI.

“Following an incident in Foyle Street around 6:20pm this evening Police can confirm that a man, aged in his 30s, has been taken to hospital for treatment for a suspected stab wound.

“His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.” said the PSNI.

“At this stage Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”
