SINN Féin’s MP Elisha McCallion has said a City Deal for the north west would begin to address decades of underinvestment in the region.

The Foyle MP was commenting after meeting with the CEO of Derry City & Strabane District Council and senior officials from Executive departments.

Elisha McCallion said: “We met with senior Executive officials to discuss progress on a City Deal for the north west region.

“I have continually made the case for this deal which will form part of the North West Strategic Growth plan and begin to address decades of neglect West of the Bann.

“This process has the backing of political representative and key stakeholders, and we are committed to collectively working towards securing the best Deal possible for the Region.

“Since negotiations opened, I have met with the two governments and Executive Departments in an attempt to secure a deal that will boost our economy and provide good jobs for the north west.”
