Cusack shares Rosemount residents frustration at continued dumping

SDLP Councillor Shauna Cusack has again spoke of the frustration shared by the residents of lower Rosemount and herself over continued dumping in the area.

Said Cllr Cusack: “Over the years the streets and particularly the laneways of Lower Rosemount have had to endure relentless dumping of bulky and household waste by selfish individuals.

“The issues have been widely broadcast and numerous meetings and cleansing operations instigated.

“No one can be ignorant of the problems this behaviour causes such as attracting vermin but more-so the total lack of respect for the residents, sometimes neighbours who deserve a clean and healthy community.

“How anyone can be so inconsiderate and disdainful of others is beyond me.

“This recent ‘ attack’ on the community has appeared in a laneway in Lower Nassau Street.

“I have been informed that although gates have been erected they are never locked which defeats the purpose.

“A very clear specification and downside of gating laneways is that the residents are responsible for the area not the Council.

“I have asked Council cleansing and enforcement to look into the issue and would urge the key holders to secure the area in future.

“I would also ask that anyone with information on those responsible to get in touch,” added Cllr Cusack.
