A MAN who took his brother’s car for a romantic late night Chinese takeaway meal with his girlfriend is facing court for having no insurance.

As well as having no insurance, police also found that he didn’t ask his brother’s permission and he had no licence to drive.

PSNI Foyle say on its Facebook page: “Recently Ballyarnett Npt 🚔 detected a male who took his brothers car without his knowledge or permission.

“Needless to say the brother wasn’t too impressed when we contacted him.

“The offender fully admitted the offences of taking a Motor Vehicle Without Authority, No Insurance and No Driving Licence.

“Following this detection Police established that the offender had received a late night phone call from his girlfriend.

“Then in the heat of the moment took his brother’s vehicle to pick the fine lady up, get a Chinese meal and settle down for a romantic night.

“Unfortunately for him he did not realise that Ballyarnett Npt were on duty.

“Also in his state of uncontrollable emotion, he forgot you require a licence, insurance and the owners permission to do so.

“Prior to leaving the area he told police: “I wasn’t thinking with my head!!!”
