SINN Féin’s Elisha McCallion has welcomed confirmation that contractors have now been appointed to carry out a multi-million redevelopment of the North West Regional College (NWRC) campus in Springtown.

Elisha McCallion was speaking as NWRC announced that O’Hare & McGovern had been appointed to undertake the £6.4m revamp.

Said the Foyle MP: “Today’s announcement represents another huge step forward in the redevelopment of the Springtown campus, a multi-million pound investment that will create a modern state-of-the-art learning environment for the College’s students, staff and stakeholders.

“I want to congratulate all those involved at NWRC for the fantastic work they have been doing over recent years and it is wonderful to see those efforts coming to fruition with an investment of this scale.

“NWRC is an integral part of the strategic growth plan for the North West.

“The creation of a modern apprenticeship hub in Springtown is an important part in ensuring we maximise the economic potential of our region and the opportunities for our young people,” added the former Mayor of Derry.
