Progress on local growth the focus of Strategic Partnership meeting

A special meeting will take place this week of the Derry and Strabane Strategic Growth Partnership, focusing on developments in the Strategic Growth Plan and progress in a number of key projects for the city.

The meeting is open to the public and will take place at 10.30am in the Main Guildhall Chamber on Thursday October 25th.

The Partnership is tasked with overseeing the delivery of the Community Plan working in conjunction with Derry City and Strabane District Council, and includes representatives from a wide range of community and statutory agencies.

At the meeting partners will receive an update on the City Growth Deal for the Derry City Region, following the successful presentation of the Vision and Outline Bid Proposal at a gala reception in London earlier in the month.

There will also be a special presentation on the Our Future Foyle project, and an update on the Carnegie Embedding Wellbeing in Northern Ireland Project.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor John Boyle said:

“The Strategic Growth Partnership Meetings offer the chance for people to find out more about the progress being made on the Strategic Growth Plan.

“It’s an opportunity for our partners to get together and discuss the issues that matter in a joined up and cohesive way.

“Community Planning is a collaborative process and the work to date on the Growth Plan has been all the more effective because of the support of such a wide range of stakeholders.

“The key to our success will be the continuation of that approach, and the ongoing commitment of our partners.

“I look forward to the opportunity next week to reflect on the positive work to date.”

Work on the Local Growth Plans for community areas will also be discussed at Thursday’s meeting, as well as the ongoing work on performance management.

To find out more about the Strategic Growth Plan for Derry and Strabane and how it will be rolled out, a new website is now available with regular updates on progress and the public can get in touch with the Community Planning team directly on growderrystrabane.com
